We recognise that this is an unusual year for our new Year 10 pupils, having joined a new school in September 2022 without completing their options choices before the summer holidays.
We are confident that all pupils can be supported to make an informed decision about which GCSE subjects they will study for the next two years. The process will begin on their first day at school, where all Year 10 pupils will be led through an options assembly, detailing the subjects on offer at Houstone School. Teachers will be discussing each pupil’s decision with them before any decisions are made. Our teachers are experienced in helping guide pupils through these choices.
All pupils will also be given an options booklet to take home. Families should review the booklet and discuss the options choices with their child. Parents/guardians will be asked to sign the options form before it is submitted to the school.
